Training

Training is a core part of our programme of work. We have been facilitating arts training for over six years to those interested in working creatively with children and young people.

Giant is a CPD Registered organisation and delivers a wide range of training initiatives for those interested in using the arts to develop their own skills and work with their client groups.

Twilight Training
Our twilight training allows time in a busy schedule for some creative inspiration! If you are a nursery worker, primary teacher or support worker within mainstream and SEN education, a play worker, or someone who uses creative approaches with children within your group or organisation; then our twilight training is for you. See below for twilight courses running in March 2010.

Introduction to Creative Play                   Thursday 4th March
An introduction to combining visual arts, movement, and drama games for children of all abilities

Outcomes:
New techniques for joining drama games; movement and visual art activities into accessible cross art form sessions.

Making Story-time Interactive                Thursday 11th March
A practical workshop helping participants to create and develop stories through a range of multi-sensory methods such as, the use of props, music and movement, scent and fabrics.

Outcomes:
Simple techniques including, gentle movement activities, interactive games and sensory ideas for all aspects of story-telling with children.

Making Your Mark                                   Thursday 18th March
An introduction to simple print-making for children.

Outcomes:
Learn techniques for mono-printing with a group/class. Explore creating vibrant, imaginative printed art works from the simplest of materials.

From The Prop Box                                  Thursday 25th March
Looking at stimulus such as story books, images and songs, participants will be led through the process of developing practical props which will enhance the creative play experience for children with mixed abilities.

Outcomes:
Participants will have the opportunity to practically explore a range of materials and their effective use for stimulating engagement, discovery and imagination.  The basics of building a useful set of creative tools to help develop and sustain creative play will be defined.
